(Thanks to the Spice Girls for today's blog post title)
Today was great.
First of all, I slept until 8:15. I wanted to sleep until 9 but my body didn't want to. I still lay in bed and chilled until like 9, got breakfast, and headed out the door with Jazlyn and Erica a little after 11. We hopped on the tube and went to Westminster, where we were instantly greeted by Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.
We went on to look around Westminster Abbey, decided we didn't want to pay 12 pounds to get in and look around (when we could come back sometime for Evensong and get in free) so we decided to walk around the city a little bit. We ended up stumbling upon Buckingham Palace and all the parks around it and stuff. Then we got hot dogs at a little hot dog stand, which ended up being kind of ridiculous. We got there and I stood in what I thought was a line. Turns out it was a free-for-all. I must have missed the "Push your way up to the front and while you're at it make people think you're trying to pickpocket them by making your bag graze their rear ends and arms and stuff and then be rude and start ordering even when you're not at the front of the line" sign. . . .
After we wrestled our way to the front and ordered, we sat down and ate our hot dogs. Then we walked around the city a little bit more and made our way back to the flats. We took a short nap and eventually went out to find a crepe place we had heard about. We sorta didn't actually look at a map, but we knew the address and were familiar with the road, so we thought we knew where it was. Turns out we didn't. But we got a nice long walk around Hyde Park and we eventually found the place pretty much on the other side of town from where we were looking.
2 words about Café Crêperie: SOOOOO ROCKIN'.
I had one of the "savoury crepes," a ham, cheese, and pepper one. Erica, Jaz, and Liz got dessert crepes. And man oh man were they delicious!
The best part about today was just being able to take a nice, slow pace and go wherever we felt like going at the time. Ever since the beginning of the trip, I've been waiting for the chance to just be in Europe. I feel like I finally got to do that today. I like it! Also, these girls are awesome. I love making lifetime friends.
Whoot!Whoot! Katelyn, I can't tell you how jealous I am, but I'm also incredibly excited for you! Lots of love!
