This time of year, for me, is a time of reflection. You might think that it's because it's almost the end of my last semester and it's time to look back on things I've accomplished, but if so, you're wrong. The truth is that my last round of finals is coming up, and I find that one of the most productive ways to procrastinate studying and such is to just reflect. See, I still think about school (sort of), but I don't actually have to do anything. It's great; you should try it sometime.
Now, rather than reflecting on the things I've done over the past four years, I think the things I haven't done help define my college career just as well. So here is a non-comprehensive--though fairly thorough--list of things I haven't done since I began college (many of these apply for the rest of my life, too):
Drugs
Alcohol
Killed roommates
Killed anyone else (unless Othello counts)
Taken math classes
Other bad stuff
Had a custodial job
Had a food job
Ridden a tandem bike
Gone to the Nickelcade
Scored over 107 in bowling
Spent more than 15 hours per semester in the library (This semester holds the record with a whopping 11 hours! And that number is a little padded, too.)
Made it through a semester without pulling at least one all-nighter
Failed a class
Stopped learning--and not just about school stuff. About life, love, and everything
Learned so much that I'm done learning
Kissed
Fallen in eternity-type love
Gone a single day without a hug
Gone an entire semester without getting homesick at least once
Stopped loving my family
Broken any friendships I couldn't repair
Made many memories that I want to forget
Good list. There are a couple that I could put on my list too. However, I'm pretty sure I spent 15 hours in the library over the space of 2 days...multiple times. I'm only scarred for life a little bit. I hope you are able to cross a few of those off your list soon and that you are able to keep some on your list forever.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, Katelyn. (I just accidentally typed blob. Pretty sure you don't have a blob.) Thanks for sharing!
