Today I did something really horrible on accident.
I almost killed my roommate.
. . . Maybe that's a little dramatic, but I did hurt her.
I'll tell the story from the beginning.
It was a perfectly lovely day for a ward activity. It started with a cook-out (yes, "cook-out". . . . not a "barbecue") and chatting and hanging around. You know, good friendship-forming time and all. And then we went to the park to play some games. Someone brought a frisbee, we had a couple of footballs and stuff, but the most important thing is that every person was completely intact.
Until we started playing football.
I grew up with four older brothers, so I know how to be tough. I had to be, or else I could have gotten creamed when we played games! Or maybe I could have had the stuffing taken out of me, like my Raggedy Ann doll who made it on a special of Unsolved Mysteries, starring my brothers and the Sloop boys.
Anyway, when I play sports, I don't play with much skill. But what I lack in skill I make up for with aggression. Upon watching my playing sports, one would be likely to hear a lot of grunting, frustrated sighs, the occasional girly scream, and a whole lot of smack talk.
Ok maybe not a lot of smack talk.
But anyway, we're playing a really fun game of two-hand touch football. And that's supposed to be the harmless version of the game right? Well instead I just crave action and injury I suppose. As Colin passed the ball to Emily, I ran toward her so I'd be ready to tag her. At the same time, Mary was trying to run toward Shauna, who she was guarding. Next thing I know, Mary's face is in my shoulder, and we're both on the ground. I got up right away, but Mary did not. Turns out she hit her head on my shoulder pretty hard and bit a chunk out of her top lip at the same time. Her lip was bleeding, and I was afraid I had knocked a tooth out for a second! Luckily all her teeth are still perfect; she's doing pretty well, but slightly nauseated and a little loopy. Not that she's not always loopy, but. . . .
:) Just kidding, Mary.
Anyway, bottom line is, I'm sorry, Miss Carlisle. (I am for reeeal!)
Oh, and by the way, that was the second time that two 218ers have had head/shoulder collisions in the past three months (To read about the first time, go here).
